Pharmaceutical compositions that contain irbesartan in combination with a diuretic, and that provide tablets that contain a high amount of active agent and that have excellent wetting and disintegration properties. Claim 1: A pharmaceutical composition, characterized in that it comprises based on weight: (a) 20 to 70%, of irbesartan or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; (b) 2 to 33%, diuretic, with the combined load of (a) and (b), not exceeding 85%; (c), 1 to 70%, of diluent; (d) 2 to 20%, of binder; (e) 1 to 10%, disintegrant, (f) 0.1 to 5% nonstick; and (g) 0.2 to 5% of lubricant, one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients, wherein a tablet formed from said composition has a dissolution rate such that approximately 80% or more of irbesartan or its salts thereof, contained in said tablet, dissolves within 30 minutes. |
