titleOfInvention PROCESS TO PREPARE ALOE-EMODINA
abstract A process for preparing aloe-emodin from aloin by oxidation of aloin by treatment with a gas containing oxygen in the presence of an acid. Aloe-emodin can be used for the production of rheine and diacerein by oxidation of aloe-emodin by treatment with a chromium-free oxidation medium to obtain rheine and purify the obtained rheine. Rhein can be acetylated to obtain diacerein. Diacerein is useful in the treatment of diseases associated with abnormal degeneration of coactive tissue, such as inflammatory joint conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis.
