abstract This refers to N-phenylpyrazole derivatives, processes for their preparation, compositions thereof and their use for the suppression of pests (including arthropods and helminths). Claim 1: A compound of the formula (1), wherein: R1 and R1a are each independently CN, CH3, CF3, CSNH2 or C (= N-Z) -S (O) r-Q; W and W1 are each independently N or C-R5; R2, R2a and R5 are each independently halogen, CH3 or NR6R7; R3 and R3a are each independently C1-3 haloalkyl, C1-3 haloalkoxy or SF5; R4 and R4a are each independently C1-6 alkyl, C1-6 haloalkyl, C2-6 alkenyl, C2-6 haloalkenyl, C2-6 alkynyl or C2-6 haloalkynyl; A is NR8-Y-NR9, NR8a-CO-CO-NR9a, NR8a-CO-Y1- CO-NR9a, NR8a-CO-O-Y1-O-CO-NR9a, NR10-C (= X) -NR11, or a formula (2); or a formula (3); M is Y, CO-Y1-CO, CO-O-Y1-O-CO, CO-CO, C (= X), S, S2, SO or SO2; R6 and R7 are each independent H, C1-6 alkyl, C2-6 alkenyl or C2-6 alkynyl, said last 3 groups being unsubstituted or their substituted with one or more radicals selected from the group consisting of halogen, C3-7 cycloalkyl , R12, R13, C1-6 alkoxy, C1-6 haloalkoxy, OR12 and OR13; R8 and R9 are each independently H, C2-6 alkenyl, C2-6 haloalkenyl, C2-6 alkynyl, C2-6 haloalkynyl, C3-7 cycloalkyl, CO2-C1-6 alkyl, CO2-C2-6 alkenyl, CO2- C2-6 alkynyl, CO2- (CH2) mR12, CO2- (CH2) mR13, CHO, C3-7 CO-cycloalkyl, COR12, COR13, SO2R14, C1-6 alkyl or CO- C1-6 alkyl, said last two being mentioned groups unsubstituted or substituted with one or more radicals R15; R10 and R11 are each independently C2-6 alkenyl, C2-6 haloalkenyl, C2-6 alkynyl, C2-6 haloalkynyl, C3-7 cycloalkyl or C1-6 alkyl alkyl, said last group being unsubstituted or substituted with one or more radicals R15; Y is C1-18 alkylene, C4-18 alkenylene or C4-18 alkynylene, said groups being unsubstituted or substituted with one or more R16 radicals; and in which 1, 2, 3 or 4 non-adjacent atoms in the chain are optionally replaced by a heteroatom selected from NR17, O and S (O) n, with the proviso that said heteroatom is not the terminal atom of the remainder Y ; or [C 1-3 alkylene] or C 3-7 cycloalkylene [C 1-3 alkylene] v, said cycloalkylene portion being unsubstituted or substituted with one or more halogen radicals or C 1-6 alkyl; or [C1-3 alkylene] u-phenylene- [C1-3 alkylene] v, said phenylene portion being unsubstituted or substituted with one or more radicals selected from the group consisting of halogen, C1-6 alkyl, C1-6 haloalkyl, C1 alkoxy -6, C1-6 haloalkoxy, CN, NO2, S (O) pR18 and NR19R20; R18 is C1-6 alkyl or C1-6 haloalkyl; R19 and R20 are each independently H, C1-6 alkyl, C1-6 haloalkyl, C3-6 alkenyl, C3-6 haloalkenyl, C3-6 alkynyl, C3-7 cycloalkyl or C3-7 cycloalkyl; or R19 and R20, together with the attached N atom, form a saturated 5 or 6 member ring optionally containing an additional heteroatom in the ring that is selected from O, S and N, the ring being unsubstituted or substituted with one or more radicals selected from the group consisting of halogen, C1-6 alkyl and C1-6 haloalkyl; R21 is C 1-6 alkyl, C 1-6 haloalkyl, C 2-6 alkenyl, C 2-6 haloalkenyl, C 2-6 alkynyl, C 2-6 haloalkynyl, C 3-7 cycloalkyl, C 3-7 cycloalkyl, (CH 2) q12 or (CH2) q13; Z is H, C1-6 alkyl, C1-6 haloalkyl, C3-6 alkenyl, C3-6 alkynyl, (CH2) qR12, COR18, CO2-C1-6 alkyl or SO2R18;
