titleOfInvention PROTEIN POLINUCLEOTIDES ASSOCIATED WITH RESISTANCE TO MULTIPLE DRUGS IN CORN AND METHODS TO USE THEM
abstract Compositions and methods to modulate the level of phytate in plants. More specifically, methods for modulating the level of phytate using nucleic acids comprising nucleotide sequences of proteins associated with multiple drug resistance (MRP) are disclosed, in order to modulate the expression of MRP in a plant of interest. The compositions and methods of the present can be used in agriculture to improve the nutritional quality of food for humans and animals, by reducing phytate levels and / or increasing levels of non-phytate phosphorus in foods for human beings and animals This is also useful to reduce the environmental impact of animal waste. Claim 1: A transformed plant comprising at least one stably incorporated nucleic acid in its genome, which has a first nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of: (a) a nucleotide sequence that has at least 90% identity sequence with a nucleotide sequence comprising at least 50 contiguous nucleotides of the nucleotide sequence detailed in SEQ ID No. 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 71 or 14; (b) a nucleotide sequence that has at least 90% sequence identity with the nucleotide sequence detailed in SEQ ID No. 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 71 or 14; (c) a nucleotide sequence comprising at least 19 nucleotides of the sequence detailed in SEQ ID No.1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 71 or 14; and (d) a nucleotide sequence that is the complement of a), b) or c); where said plant has a reduced level of phytate compared to a control plant.
