| abstract | Compositions and methods to attract, capture and eliminate populations of cotton weevils (Anthonomus grandis Boh), in the traps for cotton weevils that are known. With respect to the attraction and capture of cotton weevils with Grandlure, their synthetic pheromone, there is generally an increasing number of cotton weevils captured in the trap cylinder, to eliminate the weevils, thus preventing them from escaping. In addition, the dead cotton weevils are counted more accurately than the living ones. Compound dichlorvos (2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate or DDVP) is the most preferred, among the few insecticides that can be used in traps to eliminate and prevent weevils from escaping. It is also the preferred insecticide, when combined with Grandlure in a single dispenser, to eliminate cotton weevils or inhibit its ability to develop and reproduce normally. It also describes a trap and a method to control cotton weevils. |
