titleOfInvention | ANTIINCRUSTING COATING COMPOSITION AND ITS USE IN STRUCTURES MANUFACTURED BY MAN |
abstract | An antifouling coating composition comprising: from 20 to 100% by weight, calculated on the total amount of film-forming components, of a film-forming polymer (A) having an acrylic main chain that supports at least one terminal group of formula: -X- [OMR] n, where X represents the groups: -C (= O) -, -C (= S) -, -P (= O) - or -P (= O) =; M is a metal of Group Ib, IIa, IIb, IIIa, IIIb, IVa, IVb, Va, VIa, VIb, VIIa, and VIII of the periodic table with a valence of 2 or more and a degree of ionization less than that of a metal belonging to alkali metals; n is an integer that is worth 1 or 2; R represents a part of an organic molecule selected from the group consisting of: -SC (= O) -R1, - OC (= O) -R1, -OC (= S) -R1, -O-R1, -S -R1 or -OS (= O) 2-R1; where R1 is a part of a monovalent organic molecule; and from 80 to 0% by weight, calculated from polymer (B); a biocide for aquatic organisms based on copper characterized in that the antifouling coating composition is substantially free of any zinc based biocidal compound and substantially free of rosin resin, and because the copper based biocide has a metallic copper content of less than 2% by weight based on the total weight of the copper based biocide. The antifouling composition of the present combines high storage stability with good effectiveness under all aquatic conditions, regardless of salinity. |
