titleOfInvention | REGULATORY SEQUENCES IN PLANTS FOR SELECTIVE CONTROL OF GENETIC EXPRESSION |
abstract | This is related to the improvement of genetic expression in plants. A promoter that directs the expression of structural genes or other polynucleotides in the abscission zone of a plant is provided. The sequence of said promoter and its use in a transgenic plant comprising said promoter is described. Claim 1: An isolated nucleic acid, characterized in that it comprises SEQ ID Ns 1, or the complement thereof; or a fragment, a region or cis elements of said nucleic acid; wherein said isolated nucleic acid is a plant promoter. Claim 33: A transgenic plant, characterized in that it is made with a method comprising the steps of: (i) introducing into the genome of a plant cell a DNA molecule comprising a first DNA polynucleotide that is at least 90% homologous of SEQ ID Ns 1, or a cis fragment or element thereof, wherein said first DNA polynucleotide is operably linked to a second heterologous DNA polynucleotide with respect to said first polynucleotide and operably linked to a terminating DNA polynucleotide of the 3 'transcription; and (ii) select said transgenic plant cell; and (iii) regenerating said transgenic plant cell in a transgenic plant. Claim 35: The method of clause 33, characterized in that said second DNA polynucleotide encodes an isopentyl transferase. Claim 36: The method of clause 33, characterized in that said second DNA molecule encodes an ethylene receptor. |
