abstract | Claim 1: A process for the preparation of a compound of the formula (1), wherein: Q is an organic substituent selected such that the compound of the formula (1) has a pK with a value of 1 to 5 ; D represents hydrogen or R3; E is hydrogen or R4; or D and E together form (C2-3) alkylene, which may be mono- or poly-substituted with R6; A is (C1-2) alkylene, which may be mono- or poly-substituted with R5; or when D and E are not (C2-3) alkylene, A may additionally be carbonyl, oxygen or -NR7-; R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 are each and independently of each other, hydrogen, (C1-4) alkyl, phenyl, (C1-4) alkoxy, halogen, hydroxy, cyano, hydroxycarbonyl or alkoxycarbonyl ( C1-4); and R7 is (C1-4) alkyl, alkoxycarbonyl or (C1-4) alkylcarbonyl, comprising: a) converting a compound of the formula (2) in which R1, R2, A, D and E are as previously described. defined for formula (1), either in the presence of an amine base and a catalytic amount of a cyanide, or in the presence of an alkali metal alcoholate or an alkaline earth metal alcoholate, in a salt of the formula (3) in which R1, R2, A, D and E are as defined in formula (1) and M + is an alkali metal ion, an alkaline earth metal ion or an ammonium ion; b) reacting said compound with a compound of the formula: XC (O) -Q in which X is a leaving group and Q is as defined for formula (1), whereby a compound of the formula is obtained (4) in which R1, R2, A, D, E and Q are as defined for formula (1); and c) converting said compound in the presence of cyanide ion catalytic amounts and in the presence of a base in a compound of the formula (1). |
