abstract An imidazolidine of the formula (1) in which R1 and R2 independently of one another, are CN, C1-5 alkyl, C2-5 alkenyl, C2-5 alkynyl, C3-6 cycloalkyl, or C4-6 cycloalkenyl, in which that all carbon chains and carbon rings are unsubstituted or substituted, independently of one another, with 1-11 fluorine atoms or with up to two radicals selected from the group consisting of OH, NH2, NHCH3, N (CH3) 2 and OCH3; or R1 and R2 together with the two carbon atoms to which they are attached, form a saturated or unsaturated carbon ring of five to eight members, but without any double bond between the two carbon atoms to which R1 and R2 are attached, and in which the ring is unsubstituted or substituted with 1-12 fluorine atoms or with up to two radicals selected from the group consisting of CH3 and OCH3; R3 is F, Cl, Br, I, C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkenyl, C3-6 cycloalkyl, OH, C1-4 alkoxy, O-phenyl, CN, NO2 or NH2; in which the phenyl is unsubstituted or substituted with up to two radicals selected from the group consisting of CH3, F, Cl, Br, I, OH and OCH3; and in which the carbon chains or carbon rings are unsubstituted or substituted with 1-11 fluorine atoms; R4 to R6 independently of each other, are H, F, Cl, Br, I, C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkenyl, C3-6 cycloalkyl, OH, C1-4 alkoxy, CN, NO2, NH2, C1- alkylamino 4, or C1-4 dialkylamino; in which carbon chains or carbon rings are unsubstituted or substituted with 1-11 fluorine atoms; R7 is H, F, Cl, Br, I, C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkenyl, C3-6 cycloalkyl, OH, C1-4 alkoxy, CN, NO2 or NH2; in which carbon chains or carbon rings are unsubstituted or substituted with 1-11 fluorine atoms; and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts, and salts, of trifluoroacetic acid, medications and the use of said compounds for the preparation of medicaments for the treatment or prophylaxis of the central nervous system, lipid metabolism, ectoparasite infection, disorders of gallbladder function and to improve respiratory impulse and are therefore used to treat respiratory distress. Additionally, the compounds increase the muscle tone of the upper respiratory tract, so that snoring is reduced.
