abstract A process for the preparation of a compound of formula (1) and, where appropriate, an E / Z isomer, mixtures of E / Z isomers and / or tautomers thereof, in each case in free form or in salt form , where Q is CH or N; And it is NO2 or CN; Z is CHR3, O, NR3 or S; R1 and R2 are each independently of the other hydrogen or C1-8 alkyl which is not substituted or substituted with R4 or together they are an alkylene bridge having 2 or 3 carbon atoms optionally containing a heteroatom selected from the group consisting of NR5, O and S, R3 is H or C1-12 alkyl which is not substituted or substituted with R4; R4 is unsubstituted or substituted aryl or heteroaryl; and R5 is H or C1-12 alkyl, where: a) a compound of formula (2) which is known or can be prepared by known methods and where X is a leaving group, is reacted with a chlorinating agent to form a compound of formula (3), or, where appropriate, a tautomer thereof, in each case in free form or in salt form; and b) the compound of formula (3) thus obtained is reacted with a compound of formula (4), which is known or can be prepared by methods known per se and where R1, R2, Y, Z and Q are as defined above for the compound of formula (1); process in which the chlorination according to step a) of the process is carried out in a continuous process; process for the preparation of a compound of formula (3) according to the process a) described above. The compounds of formula (1) are known as valuable pesticides; however, it is known that significant safety problems occur in the case of those known processes in the literature and the compound (3) prepared by the known processes does not satisfy the technical requirements of purity. In addition, known procedures have disadvantages related to parameters such as performance, duration of the synthesis cycle, waste disposal that presents ecological and toxicological problems, etc. Using the technique proposed here, the process of preparing these pesticides is improved.
