abstract |
A process for the preparation of a 14-hydroxymorphorphinone derivative of formula (1) which comprises reacting the compound of formula (2) with a cobalt oxidant, in the presence of a mild base and air or oxygen as the co-oxidant; wherein R 1 is C 1-7 alkyl optionally substituted with one or more chlorines, butenyl, benzyl, phenyl or naphthyl; and R2 is benzyl or benzyl substituted with one or more C1-6 alkoxy groups or benzyl substituted with one or more halogens. The process is very suitable for the production of noroximorfinone. |
