titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF TIOTROPIO BROMIDE AND USE OF TROPENOL AND TROPENOLIC ESTER AS STARTING MATERIALS FOR THE PREPARATION OF TIOTROPIO BROMIDE
abstract A process for the preparation of tiotropium bromide of formula (1) in which the tropenolic ester of formula (2) is oxidized to form the scopic ester of formula (3) and this, by methyl bromide, is quaternized to give bromide of tiotropium of formula (1). The use of tropenol of formula (4) and tropenolic ester of formula (2), possibly in the form of its salts by the addition of acids, as starting materials for the preparation of tiotropium bromide of formula (1) is also described. This synthesis procedure for the preparation of tiotropium bromide guarantees the provision of the product, not only with good performance, but in particular with extraordinary purity.
