| abstract | It refers to a process for preparing alkylarylsulfonates by: a) reaction of a mixture of C4 olefins through a metathesis catalyst to prepare a mixture of olefins comprising a 2-pentene and / or 3-hexene, and the optional removal of 2-pentene and / or 3-hexene; b) dimerization of 2-pentene and / or 3-hexene obtained in step a) through a dimerization catalyst to obtain a mixture containing C10-12 olefins, and optional removal of C10-12 olefins; c) reaction of the mixtures of C10-12 olefins obtained in step b) with an aromatic hydrocarbon in the presence of an alkylation catalyst to form alkylaromatic compounds, where additional linear olefins can be added prior to the reaction; d) sulfonation of alkylaromatic compounds obtained in step c) and neutralization to obtain alkylarylsulfonates, where prior to sulfonation, linear alkylbenzenes can be added additionally; e) optional mixture of alkylarylsulfonates obtained in step d) with linear alkylarylsulfonates. An alkylaryl useful as an intermediary that can be obtained in the process described. A alkylarylsulfonate that can be obtained by said process and its use as a surfactant, preferably in detergents and cleaners. A detergent or cleaner comprising, in addition to the usual ingredients, a alkylarylsulfonate as described. A process where the olefins obtained in step b) have a proportion of unbranched olefins of less than 25% by weight. A process where at least 80% of the olefins obtained in step b) have one branch or two branches in adjacent carbon atoms in the range of 1/4 to 3/4, preferably 1/3 to 2/3 , of the chain length of its main chain. A process where, in step c), an alkylation catalyst is used which leads to alkylaromatic compounds which in the alkyl radical have C1-3 with an H / C index of 1. |
