titleOfInvention INORGANIC RHODIUM / IODINE CATALYSTING SYSTEM FOR THE METHANOL CARBONILATION PROCESS WITH IMPURITY PERFECTED PROFILE.
abstract The method provides an improvement on the methanol carbonylation methods of the prior art, which substantially reduces the production of carbonyl impurities. The production of carbonyl impurities, in particular acetaldehyde, crotonaldehyde and 2-ethyl crotonaldehyde, in methanol carbonylation reactions, has been shown to decrease, maintaining a partial hydrogen pressure between approximately 0.1 and 4 psia (0.68 and 27.5 kPa abs.) at a total reaction pressure of from about 15 to about 40 atmospheres (1.5 to 4.05 MPa) of total reaction pressure.
