titleOfInvention METHOD FOR PREPARING A SPONGE OF POLISACARIDO, SPONGE AS WELL PREPARED AND SALE FOR WOUNDS OR IMPLANT CONTAINING SUCH SPONGE
abstract The invention provides methods for preparing water insoluble polysaccharide sponges and sponges obtained by means of said methods; The methods include: providing an aqueous solution of a soluble polysaccharide; freeze the solution; treat the frozen solution with a miscible organic solvent with water such as isopropanol to exchange water for solvent in the freezing solution; and drying the resulting polysaccharide material; The organic solvent contains an interleaver agent such as calcium chloride to make the water-insoluble polysaccharide in the solvent exchange step (c); The resulting materials are more comfortable and less friable than freeze-dried polysaccharide sponges.
