titleOfInvention | AN ISOLATED NUCLEOTIDE SEQUENCE CODING TYPE 5 17 BETA-HYDROXIESTEROID DEHYDROGENASE; RECOMBINANT EXPRESSION VECTOR, RECOMBINANT GUEST CELL; OLIGONUCLEOTIDE SEQUENCE; A CHROMOSOMIC DNA FRAGMENT; METHOD TO PRODUCE THE 17 BETA-HSD TYPE 5; METHOD FOR I |
abstract | A novel type of 17 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 5 is provided. An isolated nucleotide sequence encoding 17 beta-eroid dehydrogenase type 5, said sequence being sufficiently homologated with SEQ ID Ns 1 or a supplement thereof, as to hybridize under restrictive conditions to the coding region of SEQ ID Ns 1, or a complement thereof, said sequence encoding an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of progesterone to 20a-hydroxy-rogesterone and the conversion of 4-androstenedione to testosterone. Methods for the production of the enzyme and for using the enzyme are described in order to identify potential compounds that inhibit or alter the activity of the enzymes. |
