| abstract | An emulsion antiperspirant composition suitable for topical application to human skin in the form of a stick, comprising an antiperspirant active material, water, a hydrophobic phase, an emulsifier and ethanol, comprising at least 10% by weight of the ethanol composition; and the use of the antiperspirant composition to refresh the skin. The emulsifier is preferably present in the composition at a level between 0.1 and 10%, although the exact amount may vary according to the other components of the composition. The emulsifier can be any suitable emulsifier, although it is preferred that it be a water-in-oil emulsifier, and with an HLB value of less than 8. The hydrophobic phase can be present at a level of between 2 and 30% by weight, more preferably between 10 and 25% by weight of the composition. The antiperspirant active material will customarily be present in the composition at a level of 10% by weight or more, in order to provide an antiperspirant benefit. The composition also comprises water, which can typically be present in the composition at a level of between 5 and 60% by weight. |
