| abstract | A carbostyril derivative of formula (I): wherein A is lower alkylene, R is H, halogen or lower alkoxy; R1 and R2 are each lower alkyl which are optionally substituted by OH, lower alkoxy, lower alkoxy phenyl or lower alkanoyloxy, cycloalkyl which is optionally substituted by OH, lower alkoxy-hydroxy or lower alkanoyloxy, or amino which is optionally substituted by lower alkyl or cycloalkyl; R3 is H, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl or lower alkyl hydroxyl, and the bond between 3- and 4- positions of the carbosteryl nucleus is single or double, provided that when R and R3 are H, R1 and R2 should not be alkyl unsubstituted lower or unsubstituted cycloalkyl, or a salt thereof, which have antithrombotic activity, inhibitory activity of thickening of the intimate dissociative activity of the mass of platelets and activity that increases blood flow in the brain and peripheral vessels, and therefore, They are useful as medicine in prophylaxis or treatment of various ischemic diseases. A process for preparing the aforementioned carbostyril derivative and a composition containing the active compound in a therapeutically effective amount is described. |
