titleOfInvention A METHOD FOR FORMING A BYPASS ON A COAXIL CABLE, A BYPASS HOUSING, A BYPASS INSERT, A COUPLER SET AND A DEPARTMENT SET TO BE USED IN SUCH A METHOD.
abstract A method of forming a branch at an intermediate point of a continuous coaxial cable 1000 comprising an inner conductor 1010, a dielectric 1020 that surrounds the inner conductor, and an outer conductor 1002 that surrounds the dielectric, the method comprising the steps of: forming an aperture on the outer conductor of the coaxial cable; form a cavity in the dielectric, below the opening; mounting a bypass insert 22 on the coaxial cable comprising the bypass insert, a bypass insert cover, a coupler assembly supported by the bypass insert cover, the coupler assembly having at least one of the following: can extract signals from the center conductor, it can insert signals into the center conductor, it can extract energy from the center conductor, and it can insert energy into the center conductor; and means for mounting the branch insert in a coaxial cable branch housing; and place the coupler assembly in the cavity. A bypass assembly suitable for use in the method comprises a bypass housing 100 and a bypass insert. The bypass housing comprises a first end portion, a second end portion, an intermediate portion having a slot or recess 14; means for fixing the housing around an intermediate point on a continuous coaxial cable; an aligner element 512 having a predetermined spatial relationship to the groove; and means for mounting a bypass insert in the slot. The bypass insert includes a signal coupler assembly mounted on a base plate and means for providing RF and / or power input and / or output.
