abstract The present invention relates to a method of preparing lactams from dinitriles. It consists more precisely of a lactam preparation procedure that chains two stages: one of hemihydrogenation of dinitrile enaminonitrile, the other of cyclizing hydrolysis of theminonitrile after a simple purification operation. Aliphatic lactams, like in particular epsiloncaprolactam, are base compounds for the preparation of polyamides (poly amide-6 from caprolactam).
