The nociceptin (NOP) receptor binds nociceptin or orphanin FQ, a 17 amino acid endogenous neuropeptide. The opioid receptor family is composed of four major subtypes: mu (MOP), delta (DOP), kappa (KOP) opioid receptors, and the nociceptin/orphanin FQ peptide receptor (NOP).
